9/24 Update on Right Foot MTP Joint Fusion Surgery
I got the all-clear early from my podiatrist and have started training and taking class to get back at it! This was the first time I've been forced to spend a month+ on my butt. I couldn't drive or put any weight on my right foot. There was/ is atrophy, stiffness and imbalance all the way up my right leg and hip. I have newfound empathy for anyone undergoing an operation that strictly limits movement.
I healed quickly and am in the process of recovering my pre-surgery level of fitness. It's a weird thing to re-learn how to move on and around a fused ball-of-foot joint but not disqualifying. At some point all of us will have limitations. The real yoga is a mindset of acceptance and curiosity for whatever the universe throws at us.
Happy to report I will start subbing at TruFusion on 10/2. Look for me filling in at Ballard, UV and Bellevue. I teach Hatha and Power Vinyasa Yoga, Mat and HIIT Pilates and Barre.
I began my 300-hour yoga teacher training program in April 2025 with Carling Harps' Mobility Meets Asana. I am enrolled in Awakening Yoga Academy's 300-hour program under the guidance of Carling Harps and Patrick Beach and hope to complete by mid-2026. It's a big project!
I am studying the following modules to further my yoga teaching skills: AYA's Vinyasa Immersion (Full Solar + Set series and philosophy), Anatomy, Advanced Asana, Effective Sequencing, Meditation & Breath Work, Restore & Recover and Prenatal Yoga.
I am a 2023 graduate of TruFusion's 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher training program. Having practiced for ten years, it was a natural step in deepening my practice while learning how to effectively teach and support others. Yoga offers benefits well beyond the physical-- it's a laboratory for mindfulness.
I teach Hatha Yoga and Power Vinyasa Yoga as well as Pilates and Barre. Ask about private sessions! My full attention in a 1:1 setting is the best way to refine your postures and flow and learn new skills.
If you're here, you want to get healthier. Building consistently good habits on your own in our modern, screen dominated lives is near impossible when your brain is biologically programmed to take the easy dopamine hit and conserve energy. There are hacks, and it's not supplements or cleanses or extreme diets and exercise. One thing at a time. Let's talk.
